Sharon Ruth Bagley Whetsel, age 77 of Winchester, passed from this life on December 4, 2021 at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, with her loving family by her side. A native of Elwood, IN., she was born to the late Roy and Dorothy Miller Bagley. Sharon made her home in Franklin County many years ago and was actively involved in supporting her husband and their children. While raising her children, you could find her at every sporting event and in their classrooms being the “Classroom Mom”. She was a very devoted mother, wife, grandmother and friend to many. She had many gifted abilities and enjoyed cooking, sewing, interior designing, crafting and gardening. She and her husband enjoyed years together, on the lake, as competitive water skiers. Her latest hobby was dancing and no matter the music, she was always so graceful and poised on the ballroom floor. She was a member of the Wood Ski Club, the Garden Club and was of the Christian faith. Pen and paper cannot capture the many memories she has left to her family and friends. Those left to cherish these memories are her daughters, Rhonda (James) Gassman of Mt. Vernon, IN, and Angela Bohanan of Tullahoma, TN.; sons, Kirby (Linda) Whetsel of Manchester, TN, and David Whetsel of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Scott Schmitt, Kirby Schmitt, Kayla Whetsel, Jordan Whetsel, Kristin Whetsel, Kenzie Veicht, Ariel Millar, Marcus Dooley and Harley Jones; 6 great grandchildren and 1 highly anticipated great grandchild; sister, Sara Beth (Jerry) Doddridge of Cambridge City, IN; brother, Chuck (Linda) Bagley of Greenville, North Carolina; most cherished furbaby, Sky, a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband of 50 years, Roger Whetsel, brothers, Junior McClintock, Claude Bagley, William McClintock, Herbert “Estes” McClintock. The family will receive friends on Friday December 10, 2021 from 12 noon-3:00 p.m., the funeral service will start at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Watson-North Memorial Park with Kirby Whetsel, David Whetsel, Scott Schmitt, Jim Gassman, Steven Millar, Dean Bagley and Michael Schmitt serving as pallbearers.
