Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Rev. Bobby Joe “B.J.” Hancock, age 86 of Cowan. Rev. Hancock passed away January 20, 2021. A Native of Alcorn Co. MS he attended Bethel College and went on to attend Memphis Theological Seminary, after which he entered full time ministry. He served more than a dozen Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Middle Tennessee including McMinnville, Huntland, Goshen, and Sewanee. He served the Cowan C. P. Church between the years of 1970-1980 as well as other Cumberland Presbyterian Churches in Tennessee, Alabama and Indiana. In his retirement years, he enjoyed taking care of his flower and vegetable gardens and his immaculate yard. He is preceded in death by his mother, Addie Lee Williams Hancock and his father, John Robert Hancock. Also preceding him in death are sisters, Dorothy Smith, Virginia Kelly, and Joy Jean Senn, Mary Hancock and a brother, Bill Hancock. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rose McCain Hancock of Cowan; daughter, Rosemary Hancock of Huntsville; sons, Tim (Maureen) Hancock of Chattanooga, David (Paula) Hancock of Pickwick Dam, TN, Rev. Paul (Dana) Hancock of Lebanon, TN and John Mark (Deanna) Hancock of Apison, TN; brother, Jimmy (Delilah) Hancock of Kassuth, MS. He also leaves 17 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends at the Cowan Cumberland Presbyterian Church Saturday January 23, 2021 between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. The family kindly requests that all attending wear a mask and practice social distancing.
