Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. M. J. Hill, age 90 of Winchester. Mr. Hill passed away at his home in the early morning hours of Friday July 3, 2020. A native of Franklin County, Mr. Hill made his home in Winchester until 1947. In 1947 he relocated to Adrian, MI where he lived until 1983. During those years he worked in various capacities in the automobile manufacturing industry as a welder and in machine maintenance. In 1983 he and his family relocated to Bicknell, IN where he worked for Universal/Johnson Controls. He retired in 1992, and returned to his Franklin County roots. Throughout his career he was frequently commended by management for his outstanding work and his superior work ethic. Mr. Hill did not subscribe to any particular organized religion but in recent years he enjoyed Joel Osteen every Sunday morning. During his career Mr. Hill served as a union steward and a company credit union loan approval officer. He was also a National Field Trial judge and was a member of the Southern Michigan Beagle Club and the Detroit, Michigan Beagle Club. His hobbies included amateur boxing and anything related to Beagles from raising, training, running rabbits and judging Beagle field trials. He loved to travel and had vacationed in 48 states. Since his retirement he could be found most mornings at the Winchester Hardees. He also spent much of his leisure time at the Franklin County Public Library and the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. He had a deep devotion and love for his family, he loved animals, people watching and classic TV comedies. Mr. Hill is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Jane Robison Hill and his father, Andy Hill; son, Terry Wayne Hill; sisters, Irene Farris, Elaine Powers and Evelyn Shores; brothers, Newt Hill, Elisha Hill and O. H. Hill. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Myrtle Mann Hill; daughter, Judy Hill of Winchester and formerly of Kalamazoo, MI; son, Jimmy Hill of Winchester and formerly of Brooklyn, MI; grandchildren, Christopher Versalle and wife Kate of Paw Paw, MI, Marissa Versalle and husband Brandon of Chicago, IL, Keegan Hill and wife Morgan of Tecumseh, MI and Devin Hill of Brooklyn MI. The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Wednesday July 8, 2020 between the hours of 12 noon and 2 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Roy B. Watson Chapel with Rev. Brian Nave of the Decherd Nazarene Church officiating. Interment will be in Watson-North Memorial Park with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
