Obituary

Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of James L. Cumming, age 81 of Winchester, TN. Mr. (Jim) Cumming passed away peacefully at his home on April 26,2022.

James was born in Royal Oak, MI on June 28, 1940, the son of John and Ada Lee Cumming. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Martha June (McLemore) and Daniel Fisher.

He leaves us to enjoy eternal life as we celebrate his life lived. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Keneatha Ann (McLemore), his daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly Ann and Daniel Warner of Owens Cross Roads, AL., son and daughter-in-law, James Todd and Susanne (Sefcik) Cumming of New Market, AL.

He was blessed to be the proud grandfather to his grandson, Austin Speer of Shelby Township, MI and granddaughters, Adrienne (Cumming) Upton of Huntsville, AL, Melayna Cumming and Renee Cumming of New Market, AL and Dr. Lauren Alyse Warner of South Fork, CO.

His life was also filled with the enjoyment of his brothers, John “Jack” Cumming II, Ronald Cumming and sisters, Karren Carrier, Linda Dial and Beatrice Prater.

 He was a native of Sterling Heights, MI retiring to Winchester, TN in 2003 after a successful 42 year career as a gage engineer for A.G. Davis Gage & Engineering. He enjoyed a fulfilled life blessed with a loving, caring family that was able to enjoy many of his hobbies of automobiles, car racing, being a handyman and enjoying the outdoors. He was able to spend his retirement years filling his time following the growth of his grandchildren into becoming successful adults and enjoying being a handyman, as Mr. “PaPa Fix” for the entire family. He also enjoyed his passion of short track racing at Winchester Speedway along with visiting numerous short tracks throughout the mid-west and the southeast.

He will be best remembered for being such a selfless, kind and caring man, never having a malevolent feeling over anyone he ever met in life!

 A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jim Cumming’s memory to the charity of your choice.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Anisa Nayeem, Dr. Christopher Murray, Fresenius Kidney Care Dialysis Center and Elk River Health and Nursing Center for the love, care and kindness given to Jim over the last year.
