G.W. “Skeeta” Taylor departed this life on January 10th, 2021 peacefully in his favorite recliner at home. He was born on June 13, 1945 in Huntland, TN to the late James C. Taylor and Jeanette Johnson Taylor. He retired from being a concrete finisher, a job he held for several years. You could find him most days on the front porch scratching off lottery tickets, watching westerns, The Tennessee Vols, Titans, Wake Forest Deacons on television or visiting his good friends, Luke and Danny Gifford.
G.W. is preceded in death by his parents, James and Jeanette Taylor; three brothers, Thomas Taylor, Johnny Taylor, and McArthur “Mike” Taylor; one sister, Alice L. Taylor; two nephews, Robert “Junior” Taylor and “Lil” Johnny Taylor; mother-in-law, Marie Blair, father-in-law, Willie T. Blair; sisters-in-law, Deborah Taylor, Dorothy Taylor; and his brother-in-law, James Willie Blair.
G.W. Taylor is survived by his wife of 51 years, Alice M. Taylor; one son, G.W. Taylor, Jr.; two daughters, Ellie (Tee) Taylor and Jeannette Taylor; grandchildren, Hilary Taylor, Tavion Taylor, Hailey Taylor, Zaria Ford, Darren “DJ” Ford, Javen Taylor; great-grandchild, S’Reniti Taylor; two brothers, James T. Taylor and Joseph Taylor; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be conducted from the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 12:00PM Saturday, January 16, 2021 with visitation one hour prior. His nephew, Michael Taylor will officiate the service. Burial will be held at Payne’s Chapel Cemetery in Huntland with Tavion Taylor, Javen Taylor, Darren “DJ” Ford, Tyreke Hayworth, Jeremy Taylor and Johnnie Taylor serving as pallbearers.
