Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Donald Ray Curtis, age 92 of Winchester. Mr. Curtis passed away January 29, 2022. A lifelong resident of Franklin County, he had a long and successful career as a long-haul truck driver. He will be remembered as a hard-working man of integrity who was a faithful and devoted husband, father and grandfather, whose top priority in life was his family. He was a very talented musician and especially loved playing and singing bluegrass music. Mr. Curtis is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Mary Jane Durham Curtis; his mother, Sarah Southerland Curtis and his father Will Thomas Curtis. He is also preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Curtis, a sister, Barbara Smith McGee and a grandson, Eddie Ray Curtis. He is survived by his daughters, Connie Curtis Nobles of Tullahoma, and Shelley Curtis of Pelham; sons, James Curtis of Estill Springs and Gary Curtis of Wisconsin; a sister, Patti (Troy) Layne of Pelham; a brother, James Calvin Curtis of Estill Springs. Mr. Curtis also leaves his grandchildren, Michael Nobles, Paul Daniel Curtis, Keaura and Melanie Penegar, Bristol Curtis, Bradley Curtis, Joshua Curtis and Amanda Curtis and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends and Watson-North Funeral Home on Saturday February 5, 2022 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. There will also be a one hour visitation prior to the funeral on Sunday. The funeral will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home and Sunday February 6 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Carl Tucker of Cross Roads Baptist Church officiating.
