Obituary

Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Charles Curtis Calloway, age 76 of Decherd.  Mr. Calloway passed from this life peacefully at his home in the late afternoon hours of March 16, 2022   while surrounded by his loving family.  A lifelong resident of Franklin County, he attended Franklin County High School, graduating in the class of 1962.  Following high school he enlisted in the U.S Army in 1963 where he served until 1965.  Following his military service he worked as a carpenter and trained himself in every aspect of home construction.  He was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Estill Springs.  Mr. Calloway constantly proclaimed the saving grace Jesus Christ to everyone he met.   He will be best remembered for his valiant efforts of distributing religious tracts to everyone in an effort the share the good news of the gospel.  Mr. Calloway was a very generous and compassionate man truly living a life of “service above self”, often-times buying groceries for others when he was unable to provide for himself.  Mr. Calloway is preceded in death by his mother, Vivian Lottie Adams Calloway and his father, Claude Columbus Calloway.  He leaves to celebrate his life, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Marion Davis of Decherd; granddaughter, Taylor Marie Davis of Decherd; grandsons, Matthew Davis of Decherd and Marion Wallace of Scottsboro, AL; great-grandson, Jayden Davis; sisters, Linda McCrary of Alabama and Melissa Meeks of Winchester, Jo Ann Calloway and Barbara Calloway, both of North Carolina; brothers, Danny (Kathy) Finchum of Lynchburg and David (Donna) Finchum of Tullahoma. Mr. Calloway’s family would also like to recognize his godson, Rudy (Elizabeth) McConnell of Decherd and his devoted caregiver, Kim Hulvey.  The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home Sunday March 20, 2022 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home on Monday March 21, 2022 with Rev. Shane Scott of Faith Baptist Church officiating.   Interment will follow at Watson-North Memorial Park with military honors.  Online condolences may be sent to www.watsonnorth.com.
