Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. William Tinnel, Sr., age 74 of Decherd. Mr. Tinnel passed from this life at his home on October 23, 2019 while surrounded by his family. He will be fondly remembered by family and friends as a very caring and generous person who opened his home repeatedly to those who needed a place to stay, a hot meal and safe environment and he instilled these same values in his children. Mr. Tinnel was a collector of knives and coins and was quite the jokester. He was the President of the Winchester Little League for 7 years. He later worked at Clark Memorial Elementary School as the school custodian for 15 years then worked for the Franklin County Recreation Department. He was a pet lover and took in and cared for any stray dog that came his way. In his later years he took to the road as he loved to always be on the go, racking up nearly 12,000 miles in the last few weeks of his life. Mr. Tinnel is preceded in death by his wife of more than 50 years, Mary Elaine Farris Tinnel; son, Harrison Hugh Tinnel; his mother, Edna Haney Tinnel and his father, Lonnie Alford Tinnel; sister, Nancy Hopkins; brother, Lloyd Cobble. He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his daughter, Rose Tinnel of Winchester; sons, William Leon Tinnel of Milan, TN and Tim (Melissa) Tinnel of Tullahoma; sister, Kay (Bud) Hill of Decherd; brothers, Jackie Cobble also of Decherd, Joe Cobble of Gadsden, AL and Lonnie (Nissa) Blair of Savannah, GA; grandchildren, Dara Dae Tinnel, Christian Tinnel, Tyler Tinnel and Timothy Sliger, Zack Tinnel, Austin Tinnel and Abby Tinnel; great-grandchildren, Joel Reed, Jimmy Reed. Mr. Tinnel’s family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home on Saturday October 26, 2019 between the hours of 5 and 8 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 2 p.m. Sunday October 27, 2019 with Tim Keller officiating.
