Thomas Vernon DeRamus

January 13, 1929 ~ July 14, 2018 (age 89)

Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Thomas Vernon DeRamus, age 89 of Estill Springs, TN.  Rev. DeRamus passed from this life, peacefully, in the early morning hours on July 14, 2018. He was a native of Giles County Tennessee, but after many years in the ministry and travels, he retired in the community of Estill Springs, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Martin Methodist College in Pulaski and received his Masters Degree from Scarritt College. Mr. DeRamus was a familiar face in the community, taking active roles in civic work which was a reflection of his heart to serve his community. He held State offices in the Lions Club and served as President of the Board of Directors for the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. He also served as the Director of the Hunger Fund for the Murfreesboro District. Those who knew him, knew how he had a love for repairing TV’s, cars and even some plumbing. He was born with a heart to serve and he fulfilled that calling with honors. Rev. DeRamus is preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Lou Agnes Wright DeRamus and parents Rev. William and Elsie DeRamus. He leaves to cherish his memories his son, Howard DeRamus, sisters Nell (Jim) Taze of Florida and Barbara (David) Coulter of Maryville, TN, nephew Jerami (Roxanne) Marshall, nieces, Teresa(Rick) Knight and Paula (Jim) Bussell, great niece Jenna (Tyson) Ward, a host of friends and church family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday July 18, 2018 from 11-1 with the service following at 1 in the Roy B Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens. Rev. J D Spencer will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the following charity, http://www/alz.org.
