Watson-North Funeral Home is deeply honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Teddy S. McCallie, Sr., age 70 of Winchester.  Teddy passed from this life Sunday November 19, 2017 at his home while surrounded by his family.  Teddy was a 1965 graduate of Franklin County High School and was the Captain of the football team his senior year.  Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served as a Military Policeman and canine handler while stationed in Vietnam.  Later he attended Temple University where he earned an Associate Degree in theology in 1976. He was an ordained minister and served as Youth Director at Payne’s Baptist Church in Decherd.  In his ministry, he performed weddings, funerals and was a motivational speaker to many church congregations and was often called to serve as fill-in preacher. Teddy graduated from the Law Enforcement Academy in 1979 and served in the Franklin County Sheriff’s Dept. as a Deputy from 1977-1979 and again from January 1983-1986.  Between his 2 stents as a deputy he worked at AEDC as a boiler maker.  In 1986 he resigned from AEDC and was elected Sheriff of Franklin County.  He was re-elected two more terms and served until 1998.  During his tenure as Sheriff he modernized the Sheriff’s Office with state-of-art technology, policies and procedures.  Sheriff McCallie will be remembered as a kind and honest man and a strong and dependable leader.  Following his retirement from law enforcement in 1998, he established the Teddy S. McCallie Trucking Company.  He owned 4 trucks and 4 trailers and hauled freight nationwide.  He retired in April of 2016 and spent much of his time with his family and his two grandchildren.  Teddy is preceded in death by his mother, Roma Harding McCallie and his father Daniel Leonard McCallie.  Also preceding him in death are his brothers, Jackie Leonard McCallie (and his sister-in-law, Alberta) and Roddy Duard McCallie (and sister-in-law Mary Ann); and niece, Joy McCallie Tallent. He leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 41 years, Linda McBee McCallie; son, Teddy S. McCallie, Jr. of Nashville; daughter-in-law, Jessica McCallie; grandchildren, Sophia Claire McCallie and Teddy Samuel McCallie III, both of Winchester.  The family will receive friends at Watson-North Funeral Home 5-9 p.m. Friday November 24, 2017.  The funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday November 25, 2017.  Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with Military Honors.  Active pallbearers will be Greg McCallie, Richard McCallie, Daniel McCallie, Craig McCallie, J.
