Mary Eleanor Murrell Kiningham, age 90 of Cowan, passed from this life into eternity on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at the Waters of Winchester following an extended illness. Mary was born in Winchester on August 18, 1928 to Linda Sutton Murrell and W.E. (Billy) Murrell. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Allen Kiningham; brothers, Thomas and Bill Murrell; and sisters, Elizabeth Todd and Doris Brock. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda (Bill) Fernander of Cowan; grandson, Jon Fernander of Chattanooga; and several nieces and nephews. Mary graduated from Central High in Winchester in 1946 and briefly attended the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. She was employed by the Winchester Power System before becoming a homemaker. Mary was a loving and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. She was such a “people person” and had been a Red Hatter. She enjoyed playing bridge, singing, and playing the piano. Mary was a member of the Winchester Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Her family will receive friends and loved ones Tuesday, August 6th from 4 pm until 7 pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 7th at 11 am in the chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home. Rev. Dr. Michael Clark and Rev. Anna Brockman will be officiating.
