Mabeline (Clay) Smith

Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mabeline Clay Smith. Ms. Smith was born in Tuluca, Alabama on March 10, 1929 to Henry and Johnnie Mae Clay. She was baptized at an early age. She was a member at Old Cowan Road Church of Christ for many years until her illness kept her from being able to physically attend. “Miss Mable” was who she was known as in the Cowan Community. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was especially known for her great biscuits and wonderful fried chicken. Mabeline was a strong and hard-working woman, not only physically, but in mind also. She was a praying mother and had a strong faith in the Lord. She worked for the Franklin County Hospital for many years in housekeeping. She was the glue to our family. She will be missed greatly. Words will never be enough to express our loss. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert H. Smith; grandson Isaiah Jones III; sisters, Celestine Fuqua, Illinois Allison, Flora James, Gertha Mae Clay and brothers, Douglas Clay and Bobby G. Clay. She is survived by three devoted children, Gloria (Isaiah) Jones, Douglas (Sequita) Smith, and Linda (Marvin) Fuqua, all of Winchester, TN; sister, Alberta Robinson of Akron, Ohio; sister in law, Barbara Clay of Akron, Ohio;grandchildren, Alysia Jones, Douglas Smith, Jr., Zaelyn Smith, Whitney Eddings, and Jarrod Eddings; great grand-children, Monet Jones and Cayden Jones; a host of nephews and nieces and a devoted friend, Josephine Holmann.
