Watson-North Funeral is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. Dick Ferguson, age 70 of Winchester.  Mr. Ferguson passed from this life Friday August 25, 2017 at his home with his family at his bedside.  A native of West Virginia, Mr. Ferguson had made his home in Franklin County since 1987 when his work brought him to AEDC where he was a Project Manager.  He worked on the J-5 Rocket Test Cell and in his spare time he was a private pilot and enjoyed gardening. Following his retirement from AEDC in 1997 he sold cars at several dealerships in Winchester, Tullahoma and Shelbyville.  His career in car sales was successful because of his humble and sweet nature in dealing with not only his customers, but everyone he met.  Mr. Ferguson was a strong man of faith, serving God through the newly established Winchester Branch of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.  Mr. Ferguson was also a very dedicated writer, keeping a very detailed daily journal of the events in his life, even recording the thoughts, feelings and emotions of his final days in this life. Several years ago he wrote a lengthy book but never took it to publication.  Mr. Ferguson is preceded in death by his mother, Reba Thacker Ferguson and his father, James Richard Ferguson; sons, Joseph Scott, Richard Scott and Richard Aaron Ferguson.  He leaves to cherish his memory and mourn his passing, his wife of nearly 51 years, Carlotta Gwinn Ferguson of Winchester; daughters, Lisa Aytes of Winchester, Jennifer Jones of Shelbyville, Sara Anderson of Estill Springs and Charity Ferguson, also of Winchester; son, James “Daniel” Ferguson of Winchester; brothers, Daniel (Patty) Ferguson and Scott (Phyllis) Ferguson, all of Huntington, WV; 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. A Memorial Service is scheduled for Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 4:00. The service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Winchester Branch.  For those who so desire, the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Jude's or the charity of one’s choice in Dick’s memory.  Online condolences may be sent to www.watsonnorth.com
