Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Sylvia June Williams Patton, age 76, of Decherd.  Mrs. Patton passed away October 17, 2017 at her residence.  A native of Franklin County, she was born in Winchester and attended Franklin County High School.  She continued her education at Motlow State Community College and went on to Middle Tennessee State University where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education.   After completing her education, she established a 35 year career in education, initially in the Special Education Department at Clark Memorial. She later moved into the role of Support Team Coordinator for Special Services at the Central Office of the Franklin County Board of Education.  Following her retirement she became involved in numerous activities that interested her, especially gardening, both at home and at the Franklin County Senior Citizens Center. She will be remembered by everyone who knew her as a devoted mother and grandmother and a loyal and loving friend to many.   A renowned cook, she received so much pleasure in preparing food and meals and wanted to feed everyone she met.  She was an avid reader, always seeking to learn and broaden her horizons.  She had a large circle of friends and was a very active member of the Girls of the 50’s.   Not being especially fond of housework, her philosophy was “My house is clean enough to be healthy and dirty enough to be lived in.   Mrs. Patton was a faithful and long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Winchester.  She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Sue Wiseman Williams and her father, Lloyd Mac Williams; a sister, Judith Mac Shalongo.  She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Donald “Don” Patton; daughters, Dona (Joe) Carter, Dian (Lance) Relford, Dedra (Steve) Acklen and Deneen Patton; brother, Butch Williams; grandchildren, Rachel Catherine Carter, Derick Patton Willis, Lance Drew Relford and Lucas (Kassandra) Relford and one anxiously awaited great-grandbaby.  The family will receive friends Thursday October 19, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home.  The funeral ceremony will be conducted from the Roy B. Watson Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home at 2 p.m. on Friday, October 20, 2017, with Bro. Rick Roberts of the First Baptist Church   officiating.  Interment will follow at Franklin Memorial Gardens with friends and family serving as active pallbearers.  The family has requested the “Girls of the 50’s” serve as honorary pallbearers.  Following the interment, friends are invited to join the family at pavilion #3 at Winchester City Park near the ball field for a celebration of the life of Sylvia June Patton. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Hospice Compassus for their amazing care and ministry to Mrs. Patton during her illness. For those who so desire, the family suggests memorial contributions to the charity or cause of one’s choice in lieu of flowers.  Online condolences may be sent to www.watsonnorth.com.
