Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. John W. Stephens, age 68 of Hillsboro.  Mr. Stephens passed from the life August 8, 2017 at his home while surrounded by his wife, daughter and his special granddaughter and the light of his life, Natalee Hope Matthews.  A native of Sewanee, he had made his home in Coffee County for a number of years.  He was a very industrious person and a man of many talents.  Not only was he a gifted mechanic  but for several years he and his family owned and operated Mountain View Golf Course in Manchester while also running a trucking company.  For a number of years he worked for the Dennis Hunt Crane Company as a driver and crane operator setting up buildings.   He retired from Reliable Carriers in May of 2016.  Mr. Stephens was a very kind, outgoing, generous but practical man who adored his wife, Christine, daughter Amanda and his granddaughter, Natalee, all of whom he referred to as “his girls”.  Mr. Stephens is preceded in death by his  mother, Lillian Brinkley Stephens and his father, John Haynes Stephens; sisters, Shelia Tallant and Nancy Layne; brother, Danny Stephens.  He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 34 years, Christine Lemons Stephens of Hillsboro; daughters, Amanda Matthews of Hillsboro and Sandra Wilkinson of Tullahoma; sons, Terry Stephens of Manchester and William Stephens of Tullahoma; 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, James (Barbara) Stephens & Wade Stephens, both of Manchester, and Lester (Kathy) Stephens of Estill Springs. He also leaves his in laws David and Jane Lemons and brother in laws David (Pattie) Lemons and Donnie (Deanna) Lemons all of Manchester.  Visitation will be Friday August 11, 2017 from 5-8 p.m. at Watson-North Funeral Home.  At Mr. Stephens’ specific request, his funeral is to be conducted from the Chapel of Watson-North Funeral Home on Saturday August 12, 2017 starting at 11 a.m. sharp, moving to Watson-North Memorial Park for interment and all services to conclude by 12 noon so everyone could enjoy the rest of their day and get on with their lives.
