Watson-North Funeral Home is honored to be of service and ministry to the family of Mr. James William Taylor.

Brother James William Taylor, 75 years old peacefully passed away on December 10, 2016, surrounded by his loving and devoted wife Juliette Larkins-Taylor who he referred to as “Angel Face”.  He was the eldest son to the late Roy Lee and Hattie B. Taylor on June 20, 1941 in Belvidere Tennessee.  He accepted Christ at Beans Creek Primitive Baptist Church until his illness where he sang in the choir and also in the Male Chorus under Reverend Royce Hill.  James retired from East Ridge Sanitation Department in Chattanooga, TN and worked for Taylor Janitorial Service in 2014 due to disability.

James loved to fish, hunt and be in the woods with his best friend Billy Ray Isbell.  He was a master gardener where he specialized in growing roses.  He grew a special rose that he named Angel Face after his wife Juliette.  He loved traveling riding in the country looking for special rocks and native plants.  He loved going to little league baseball and football with his son and grandson.  He never missed a practice or game even when his illness progressed. Often giving pointers to the young players; they began calling him Paw Paw.  He loved mowing his lawn and taking care of his beautiful flowers.  To his friends he always set the example of what a loving devoted husband and father should be, never asking for anything for himself and always willing to give. 

He loved Purple Martins. He shared this passion with his brother, Charles.  In later years he loved being with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He called his family the three (3) J’s – James, Juliette and Jabari.  He traveled a lot in his later years and had plans to go overseas with family and later go on a cruise.  James loved music and picking on his guitar. In his younger years, he often did Elvis Presley imitations where he earned the name of Hollywood by his cousin.

James leaves to cherish his memories to his devoted wife Juliette “Angel Face”; children James D. Taylor of Decherd, Tennessee;  Chantaine L. Gray of Winchester, Tennessee;  Stephon T. Taylor of Winchester, Tennessee; Jabari Bell at home in Winchester, Tennessee; Julius L. Johnson of Cleveland, Ohio; Marcus R. Allgood of Los Angles, California; and Tamika Swope of Tullahoma, Tennessee.  He has seven (7) grandchildren: Tony Taylor, Devin Elliott, Adrian Gray, Tristen Taylor, Nikia Nard, Dre Nard and Kimberly Newson of Chattanooga.  James has nine (9) great grandchildren, three (3) sisters: Mrs. Katherline Williams, Wanda Gail Taylor, Carlene (Rev Eddie Taylor) all of Winchester, Tennessee.  He has six (6) sister-in-law’s:  Ruby Taylor of Winchester, Tennessee; Mrs. Sarah Patton, Gladys Stovall of Estill Springs, Tennessee; Alice Faye Davis, Barbara (Mike) Blackwell and Mary (Albert) Clift of Akron, Ohio. He has three (3) brothers:  Charles (Brenda) Taylor of Winchester, Tennessee; Thomas (Beatrice) Taylor of Decherd, Tennessee and John Raymond Hill of Winchester, Tennessee.  James has one Aunt Hazel Reed of Belvidere, Tennessee, on his mother’s side of the family.

James was proceeded in death by his parents Roy Lee and Hattie B. Taylor; brothers: Joe bill Taylor, Horace Taylor, Baby Mitchell Taylor and Baby Taylor; and two (2) sisters: Dorothy Taylor and Flossie Taylor.  A devoted lifelong Friend Bill Ray Isbell of Winchester, good friend Greg Taylor, Clifton Taylor and Marcus Taylor. He proceeded a host of nieces, nephews and friends to include a special aunt on his wifes’ side Mother Susie Brazelton of Louisville, Kentucky.
