Welcome to the memorial page for

James Allen Fuqua

July 23, 1958 ~ July 22, 2017 (age 58)

James Allen Fuqua was born on July 23, 1958 to the late Junior and Alma J. (Simmons) Fuqua. He was called home to rest on July 22, 2017.

James better known as Jamie was a devoted husband, father, and brother. He was preceded in death by Rontez Fuqua (son), Mary Fuqua (sister), Mark Fuqua (brother), Margaret Brown (sister), Hammick Fuqua (uncle), and MacArthur Simons (uncle).

James was a graduate of Franklin County High School (class of 76). James was a faithful member of Beans Creek of Primitive Baptist Church (Huntland, TN).He became a certified welder while working at Peabody Tec Tank and later became a member of the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers (Local 454). James was a diligent worker and truly loved his craft; he strived for perfection in every welding beam that he laid. James was truly a craftsman – he was also a carpenter and concrete finisher – as with welding he ensured that his creations would stand the test of time. He had a philosophy about always doing the job right the first time; otherwise, it was a complete waste of time to even bother with it. He never desired to complete any job halfheartedly. Even though James had several health obstacles to overcome, he continued on with his work practices and philosophy until his last days.

When James was not working he enjoyed anything dealing with classic Mopars. He would often sit and talk to others for hours about his Dodge Dart (GTS) or Plymouth GTX.   James never met a stranger; he was able to relate everyone. He was a carefree, fun loving individual; however, he could and would speak his mind whenever necessary. James was definitely not a push over by any means and was always passionate about his beliefs.

James also loved his family deeply and was devoted to his wife, Wilma, of 35 years.  They were able to cruise to the Caribbean several times, travel throughout the states, and most importantly cruise in that ol’ Dodge Dart. He was also a devoted father and grandfather to Tekesha (daughter) and Xzayvion (grandson).

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Wilma Fuqua; daughter, Tekesha Fuqua-Taylor (Darrell Taylor); grandson, Xzayvion Taylor; devoted sister, Jody Simmons; sisters -  Elizabeth Simmons, Doris Simmons, Alma L. Fuqua, brothers - Willie Fuqua, Marvin Fuqua (Linda), Pete Fuqua, Mike Fuqua (Estella); James Simmons (uncle), Iwillie Fuqua (aunt), and host of nieces and nephews and friends.
